Baykeeper sues over Dockers dock plans

BTW - are you all on Kevin's payroll or a member of his corporation? You all seem a bit jaded. Just a thought!" Feb 21, 09 6:31 PM

.....and did you even hear Kevin complain when the Town renovated the facilities at Tiana Bay Beach (across from Neptunes)? He didn't sue the Town over that one and it has way more facilities, blacktop parking, floating docks, dredging, piles, piers, walkways, ramps, etc.... Take a look at it on google earth!!

Dockers is not creating anything new - only making what they already have nicer.

I go there, it's hardly obnoxious, and isn't boating, recreation, fishing, beach, and those better than continued residential development?

Kevin's environmental scare tactics you must take with a grain of salt or sugar. There is no automatic shellfish closure by the DEC - it simply triggers water quality testing - and Kevin knowingly misleads you all.

One of Kevin's "go to people"is an employee of the DEC shellfish division - even this DEC employee wouldn't comment on any closures (on the approved plan) - real or theoretical.

What about all that other dredging projects going on by the town, state and federal governments - Kevin remains silent on those - What Kevin, those projects don't create turbidity or water quality????!!!!!

Kevin, my mama always told me to tell the truth - even if it hurts.

Hampton Bays civic supports Baykeeper lawsuit

PrivateMatt .... still, the town approved the work and Kevin remained silent. He's two-faced. Dockers property has a CO and legal use a marina which was built in the 1960's in which a channel was dug to connect the boat basin to Frank's Channel. this is all very public info. it took the town 4 years to give an approval - lots of environmental work was done - more than what was required for Tiana Marina.

Why don't you get the Town to just buy the property from Dockers?

Kevin keeps calling this a new marina - it is not and all they seem to be doing in placing one new float and 17 mooring pilings - .... and removing the existing CCA material..." Mar 18, 09 5:10 PM

Bob.....Then why didn't they simply buy the property from Dockers as well - it makes no sense for them not to do it if what you say is true.......... Again, there are already boats going there and have been since it was built in 1967 - so it's not a NEW marina. My point is that Kevin is such a hypocrite in that the the work that the Town did at Tiana is in the same body of water, 1-mile east of Dockers with the same alleged shellfish, fin fish, ell grass, etc...... and he said nothing, the Hampton Bays CAC said nothing...........

The fact of the matter is that the Bayman are over fishing, over harvesting and are the real pirates - digging for clams rips ell grass beds to shreds, they power rake for steamers with out-board engines, they typically don't have bathrooms on-board their vessels.............. come on now ............. Don't single Dockers out - get rid of all the boats and docks and put limits on commercial fishing/shell fishing for 2 years and we will have everything restored to record levels - but that would be political mess!" To the writer of this article: (By Hallie D. Martin). What a terribly written article! It's very confusing and not very clear. Trustees reject mayor's attempt to add seven resolutions after walk-out in Westhampton Beach

i still don't understand what the writer was saying.........did teller add things to the agenda without consulting the other trustees or did the three trustees want something added and teller didn't want to...what the heck!" Jan 10, 10 10:19 PM

ah, well, that makes total sense now - so the three trustees were being blind-sided by mayor teller and they took a stand against his [the mayors] 11th hour tactics. One can pre-suppose that the mayor had is own agenda in mind here and that the other three trustees were actually trying to do the right thing and protect the public's interests. The whole thing seems shady to me and I am sure there is more to it. The three trustee revolt may have been their way to let the public know that there is a game a foot." Jan 11, 10 8:45 AM

The Beach Blogger is written by Dean and I am not sure who side he takes (which makes it suspect and opinionated at best), maybe he's on the side of Teller. Long winter, short beaches—a worrisome combination as erosion season arrives

Just to inform those members of the East End communities (and G), you have a right to know that Kevin McAllister is a paid environmental activist. His organization obtains funds from people to fight their battles through membership fees, fundraisers, donations and solicitations. He is not a public official in any manner, nor is he appointed, sanctioned or regulated by any agency of government.
He runs a not-for-profit corporation called Peconic Baykeeper Incorporated, to which he holds the office of President and the invented, self-proclaimed title of “Baykeeper.” It all certainly sounds official, but it runs as a business venture. Not-for-profit corporations simply can’t make a profit in earnings, but that doesn’t mean that McAllister can’t take a huge salary to do the advocacy work he claims.
When it comes to his advocacies he is very selective and self-serving: some causes he supports, others he does not. He is very inconsistent. He seemingly fights the ones that can give him the most bang for his buck (and publicity) – to raise money for his own personal financial gain and ‘ya got to keep those donations flowing in and ‘ya got to keep your name in the press to do it.
I just don‘t understand why he selectively chooses what he wants to fight against. Not to diminish his personal passion for environmentalism and his attempt to save the world one clam at a time, but it makes me wonder, wonder indeed.
By the way, ask yourself, who funds him and how much of your donation goes into his pocket?
His wife, an attorney, heads up the CPF department inside Town Hall - so I wonder if he might be privy to inside information to benefit his agenda. It may seem unethical, but it is not illegal. She is an insider and might have access to the Town Attorney's Office files and records.

Suffolk County judge overturns East Quogue marina application approval

Actually, davidf, Kevin is the one who sued the trustees on the basis that they are required to perform SEQRA on commercial applications that deem review. So it was Kevin who is spending the taxpayer funds. Dockers has to do SEQRA anyway with the town and DEC before it does anything, so it didn't really make a lot of sense why Kevin would sue and alienate the trustees they way he did. I am sure that the trustees did their own environmental review and I know that Kevin did not submit any scientific evidence to refute the environmental findings that was done by the independently hired firms. Seems to me that Kevin just likes promoting himself and likes seeing his name in the papers. Kevin might be working for private interests fighting this project as he seems very selective who he fights and which projects he supports and the ones he does not." Feb 3, 10 11:53 AM

Kevin says in the article ...."Mr. McAllister, the president of Peconic Baykeeper Inc., said that while the Trustees tend to conduct thorough environmental reviews of most projects, adhering to the detailed state guidelines which require interaction between all regulatory agencies that are reviewing a substantial project can only serve to heighten protection of sensitive environments. “I have the utmost respect for their authority and their wisdom, but it behooves the board to coordinate through the process,” he said. “There’s full disclosure and transparency. If it’s done unilaterally, it diminishes the comprehensiveness of the oversight.”

If he has the utmost respect for their authority and their wisdom, then why did he challenge their authority under the Patent in superior court? That is because Kevin is good at speaking out of both sides of his mouth. Clearly he doesn't trust them, that is why he sued them!" Feb 3, 10 11:58 AM

Publius - SEQRA gets done no matter what, through the other agencies and those other agencies coordinate with the trustees anyway. I think it is a legal matter for the Trustees to consider what power they have and does their authority overrule the state which is unrelated to the Dockers thing - it has nothing to do with Dockers. This is really Kevin's fault, he knew that SEQRA was going to be done and the trustees did their own version or its equivalent of it - he just didn't like the outcome, so he appealed it." Feb 3, 10 12:36 PM

That is precisely why this is a fight between Kevin and the Trustees and not Dockers - it's a legal battle of the ultimate thing, power." Feb 3, 10 1:25 PM
